LBRA Honors Congressman Danny K. Davis with Business Community Service Award

Newly formed non-profit business organization, Lawndale Business Renaissance
Association, recognized Congressman Davis’ support of the revitalization of
Chicago’s West Side business community.

Lawndale Business Renaissance Association (LBRA) is pleased to announced that is has presented Congressman
Danny K. Davis of the U.S. 7th Congressional District from Illinois with its Business Community Service Award. LBRA
recognized Davis during a meeting of more than 40 area companies in late October for his support in revitalizing
Chicago’s West Side business community. The congressman played a vital role in assisting with the founding of
LBRA, a newly formed 501(c) (3) organization.

During the meeting, LBRA executive director, E. Bernard Jennings acknowledged Jim Buik of the Roscoe Company,
Tom Glass of Able Electropolishing, Eric Lindsay of American Family Insurance, and Gary Birnbaum of Charter Steel
Trading for their outstanding support in the formation of LBRA. Jennings also awarded these members with the
Donald Buik-Sam Flowers Visionary Award. This award is named honor of two businessmen and community activists
who championed LBRA’s founding predecessor in the 1960s. Valerie Jennings was presented with the Volunteer of
the Year Award for her support and involvement in the founding of LBRA.

LBRA currently features 35 member companies, with current members representing more than $1 billion in aggregate
annual sales and employing more than 6,000 individuals. The organization aims to have a direct economic impact on
the revitalization of a blighted area that was once a major manufacturing hub in Chicago, which housed such
companies as Sears, Sunbeam and Western Electric.

The association provides businesses with a variety of assistance, including business license issues, zoning, city
